BEACHES

There are a variety of  beaches in the area.  For those with small children there are sandy beaches in Denia, Javea, Moraira, El Portet and probably the best - Benidorm but avoid it in high summer. The headland between Javea and Moraira houses numerous small secluded rocky coves and shingly beaches.

Our Favourites are:

Playa Portichol and Playa de la Grenadella.

Both of these beaches have excellent restaurants and are well worth driving to.  Bar Rosita (only open July and August) at Grenadella is highly recommended but you need to book a table for lunch on arrival at the beach .  These beaches are made of pebbles and shingle and despite being lovely may not be suitable for children.   They are both situated on the headland between Moraira and Javea.

Cumbre del Sol

Dramatic bay of pebbles and shingle. To get there go into Benitachell and leave on the road to Javea.  Just before you leave the village there is a large sign on the right hand side to Cumbre del Sol.  When you reach the complex of Cumbre del Sol, follow the signs to the Playa.  The complex swimming pool is on the left and is well worth a visit - its got a lovely view and a nice lunch time restaurant.  You need to leave this beach by 4 or 4.30 because the sun gets too low in the sky.

Javea Beach

Lovely sandy beach with a large promenade of shops, bars and restaurants.  It is a bit commercial but is great for teenagers.  The beach has soft sand, palm trees and beach games.

Denia to Oliva Beach

The beach northwards from Denia to Valencia is just like this.  Pure, soft sand with a gently shelving beach.  Ideal for children.  There are a number of beach bars spaced out along the beach.
